Calderdale Heritage Walks - 2007

The "Calderdale Heritage Walks" programmes are provided as a courtesy to our visitors. Please mention Caldernet if you do attend any of the walks. Many thanks.

Part of a drawing entitledOur well-researched walks explain the history of local towns and villages and their fascinating features. For 2007 we've added new walks at Luddenden, Mytholmroyd, Rastrick, Hebden Bridge, Barkisland, Old Town, Lightcliffe, Sowerby, and these are marked µ to indicate their first presentation .

Walks are about 2 hours, circular and fairly easy walking, unless otherwise stated.  Stout shoes are needed at rural venues.  Our walks are not normally suitable for under 13s, but the walk on 16 Sept. is suitable for young people 8+ with their parents.

Most walks are £3.00 each (regardless of age) and booking is not needed, just turn up on the day. But see special notes regarding the 'Outlaws & Nuns' walks.

The programme is produced with the co-operation of Calderdale Countryside Service. Our thanks also to other sections of Calderdale MBC for their continued assistance.

Guides can also be booked for private groups – we've around 50 different walks available.  For details email us at :

We're back!!
Apologies to all our visitors for the lack of updates of late.  Due to serious health problems and eventual hospitalisation I've been a little remiss. I'm back now and the camera's feeling neglected so we'll have some updates soon.

We're also in the process of moving servers at the moment, please CONTACT US should you find something that isn't working as it should be.

Many thanks

Halifax Snooker Club and Bowling Alley update

Progress is coming along nicely and I have to say the new frontage is looking good.  I'm not too sure about the building looking like an old fashioned ocean-liner, but it compliments the HBOS building nicely with its smoked glass and local sandstone colour.

The new entrance is visible to the left of this picture. Note how from this angle, the jutting corner of the building looks like an ocean liner.
